Hi, I’m James M Vollmer, proud owner of J.M.J. Accounting.
Today, I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I grow up on the family farm situated outside of Atwood, Ontario. Atwood is a small town in Perth County. I attended school at Elma Township Public School in Newry. I went to high school at Listowel District Secondary School in nearby Listowel. I went on to study accounting in the Business Administration department at Fanshawe College.
The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting my clients to review and discuss their tax returns. I love working with numbers. It gives me great pleasure to help my customers keep the most of their hard-earned money.
I am in business for myself, and for my family. I enjoy the freedom of not having to answer to any bosses, other than my clientele. Also, my Dad taught me that the only way to be paid what you are truly worth; is to work for yourself.
I began working in the tax field in 1997. I was brought in as a contractor to process and file corporate year end tax returns and personal tax filings. After working there for 12 years, the owner approached me and let me know that he was ready to retire. I bought the business basics and J.M.J. Accounting & Tax Services Inc. was born.
We incorporated in March of 2010. I have been the Senior Accountant here for seven years. I am proud to be part of a very small staff. Collectively, we appreciate our clients’ confidence in our ability to minimize their taxes while maximizing their tax credits each year.
In addition to the preparation of our clientele's tax returns, I am also responsible for the marketing of our services.
The success of J.M.J. in the tax industry is based on my reputation. The most important decision I face daily is what can I do today to build the reputation of my business.
The 3 top skills I use to perform my duties are:
- My ability to listen - It’s imperative that I hear and understand what my client’s are communicating
- My knowledge - Using what I know to help my client.
- My calm personality - Never getting frustrated in any situation.
I attribute my success in business to my enjoyment of being of service to others. I am extremely humbled when a client expresses their gratitude at how can help them, and their wonder with how I can work with numbers all day!
The business person I admire the most is my Father. No matter what challenges arose; he always found a way to make the family farm a success.
Outside of work, I am involved in my parish. I’ve been an active member of the Knights Of Columbus Council for 15 years. I regularly donate blood. This is how I met my wife. She was a Registered Nurse with Canadian Blood Services. My interests include cards, board games and cooking.
The most satisfying moment thus far in my life was being able to spend time with my eldest grand daughter the day she was born.
My personal values are summed up in this age-old parable "do onto others as you would want them to do onto you".
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
If you, or someone you know could benefit from our expertise in accounting services in London, Windsor, Simcoe, Norfolk, Hagersville, Puslinch and most of South Ontario, I invite you to get in touch.
Sincerely,
James
